A documentary film on Life and Legacy of Eadweard Muybridge

Muybridge Seated at Base of “General Grant” Sequoia Tree in California

Gary Oldman with a famous portrait of Muybridge. The photograph, like many of this era, is shrouded in some mystery. It is not known who exactly is the photographer – Muybridge himself? The early Western photographers Carleton Watkins or Charles Leander Weed? The print is often dated to 1872, but the Oldmans have conducted persuasive research suggesting the photograph was made earlier, most likely in 1867, during Muybridge’s first photographic expedition.
